How much are professional organizing rates?

In general, according to a survey by the National Association of Professional Organizers, rates range from $50 to more than $150 per hour. Contact Boost for more information on specific project rates. There are also a number of ways to work with different budgets.

Working with a professional organizer is more like hiring a personal trainer than a house cleaner. You could find someone to clean out your garage for cheaper but you'll have to hire that person on a regular basis for maintenance. A professional organizer not only helps you more effectively reduce and reorganize but also teaches you personalized methods so you can stay organized and apply what you learn to other areas.

It's also good to remember that you are paying for a professional service and are only charged for time on-site despite the additional off-site work that will go into your project.

How long does it take to complete an organizing project?

Every project is different but for an average home with two people working together you can start with the estimates below.

Kitchen

8 hours across 2 days

Master Bed

8 hours across 2 days

Bedroom

6 hours across 2 days

Bath/Toiletries

4 hours, 1 day (1 person)

Basement

15 hours across 3 days

Garage

12 hours across 3 days

Living room (not toys)

2 hours, 1 day (1 person)

Playroom

6 hours across 2 days

Office/paper

24 hours across 5 days

Time needed depends on how fast decisions are made and how much effort you are able to put into the project in between sessions. We work at your pace, keeping things moving but not rushing you if you need to take more time.

It is best to schedule projects on consecutive days, and clear your calendar for the day after in case the project runs over.

How do the fees work?

Fees are hourly, with a four hour minimum for organizing projects. This is so we can make visible progress and return the area to a livable state in between sessions.

Travel time of 30 minutes or more is charged at half the hourly rate.

What is your payment policy?

Payment is due at the start of the first session. Boost currently accepts cash, check, PayPal and most major credit cards.

What is your cancellation policy?

Because it is difficult to rebook an organizing project on short notice, appointments cancelled less than 48 hours in advance are subject to a charge of half the scheduled session. No shows are non-refundable.

Straightforward Solutions

Clear, simple methods to get organized and see results.

The Power of Simplicity

“If someone had pointed out that reducing the hours I spend in the office each day could actually make me more productive …

… that freeing up more time for leisure would help open me up to creativity, which in turn would make it possible for me to move away from a career I’d never been happy in and to one that is now a constant source of joy … “

“A lot of people get off on solving problems with complicated solutions. …

A better idea: Find a judo solution, one that delivers maximum efficiency with minimum effort. Judo solutions are about getting the most out of doing the least. Whenever you face an obstacle, look for a way to judo it. “

“The secret of good writing is to strip every sentence to its cleanest components.

Every word that serves no function, every long word that could be a short word, every adverb that carries the same meaning that’s already in the verb, … these are the thousand and one adulterants that weaken the strength of a sentence.”
